Private to Rodolphus

Yes? Are there more letters? Are you going to give me more news? Please, Rodolphus, at five days now you've more than made your point.

[dry chuckle]

Patience, Dominic.

I was going to let you hear her, but if you are going to be so demanding...

Audio on, and he sounds tired, desperate

Please, Rodolphus, my apologies. Please let me hear her?

[another chuckle]

Much better. I think you will enjoy what I have recorded.

[a long pause and then the following audio is laid into the entry]

The sounds of soft sobbing, somewhat muffled. "I heard them, I heard them outside the room."

"Hush, petit l'un, do you remember what I promised last night?" Rustling sounds and then the shift of a body on a bed.

Continued soft, muffled sobbing. "That they weren't allowed to come in here anymore."

"And they did not, did they?" Soft murmur in French and then an approving noise as the sobs seems to slow somewhat. "Good, good, no more tears, hmm?"

[the other audio turns off]

Who? Rodolphus, who has been frightening her?

*a pause, because he does not even want to ask, frightened of the answer.

Is she alright?

[laughs]

Telling would ruin it, no?

Here, let her words speak for her.

[a long pause and then the following audio is laid into the entry]

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have touched you like-"

The tone is gruff, almost husky. "No, it is me, petit l'un, never apologize.

"I- I don't know what I would do if you weren't here. You're all that's keeping me from being-" A soft, choked sound.

Still gruff and against the soft rustle of something. "I do not deserve what you are trying to say."

"You do! You do."

[the other audio turns off]

Rodolphus, I ask you, man to man, please, return her to her famly. You've had your fun and games, and you've made your point..

*voice sounds tense, as though each word is calculated*

She is little more than a child.

Is. Hannah is not experienced in the ways of the world the way that most girls her age are. She's innocent.

She is a very apt pupil.

Be that as it may, she is still almost as innocent as a child. I fail to see what you can accomplish by keeping her longer. You've hurt us more than you can imagine, you've hurt Hannah, just send her home.

No. The longer I keep her, the longer I wish to keep her. I will continue to hurt you where you can be hurt most and, in the process, I am forming quite the relationship with her. She is so grateful and eager, the only challenge is keeping myself from being ill when I touch her. She seeks my comfort quite often now, which I would think you now understood from her own words.

You will never be her father, she already has one and I...

*Ernie interrupts him furiously*

And Hannah is not the sort of girl who would fall for someone like you, either as a father figure or as...anything else. She's better than all of you.

Ernie interrupts again

I heard what you said, Lestrange, and I know it's not true. Hannah's not like that.

[amused snort]

You underestimate what fear does to an individual, young Auror. See, that is the beauty of my plan. She has no one but me to turn in her fear, and she sees me often verbally abused by my wife, including in front of her. There is a camaraderie there and she easily bonded with me.

From there, the rest was easy. Gratitude is a wonderful motivator, and then the rewards from the gratitude serve as motivation themselves.

[ Ernie has taken Dominic's journal from him, and is clearly not amused]

Hannah would NEVER be with you in that way. If you even tried then she would clam up instantly. She wouldn't even think about kissing you, Lestrange, so if you've been with her in any intimate way you forced your hand on her, and when I catch you I'll...

[Sound of shuffling as Dominic and Ernie briefly wrestle over the journal, finally Dominic recovers the journal and his voice is the one heard next]
I just want her home, Rodolphus, you've had your fun.

I put no value in you being her father because it was that very thing that caused all of this.

You grow boring, Dominic. I must take my leave for softer, blonde and feminine forms of entertainment.
